IWC Mark XI – Circa 1948- First Pilot Watch Ever.
Welcome to genesis, the watch that cemented IWC’s bond with pilot watches in the history books forever. IWC along with JLC were commissioned by the Royal Air Force to make a super accurate aviator watch for their fighter pilots. IWC’s Mark 11 stood out as a vastly superior watch with it’s legendary Cal.89 movement that was scrupulously tested to withstand the harshest conditions and proved to still stay extremely accurate. The Mark 11 was supplied to the RAF and RAAF from 1948 till 1953. All watches were in service till 1981 when they were decommissioned……..
