The Watch Collector Service is designed so that every watch that leaves our workshop is of the highest cosmetic and mechanical condition possible. Below is a detailed illustration of our servicing.
The case back is removed and the movement and is taken out of the watch. Each brand and model of watch uses specialised tools and equipment to ensure damage to the case doesn't occur during this process.
All watches have unique serial numbers that are recorded and, where possible, are checked by authorities to establish provenance and service history.
Every case component of the watch is dismantled. Each watch has its own tray containing all its parts which are inspected to make sure seals, washers, springs etc are in perfect condition and functioning properly.
Each watch case and bracelet is closely examined for wear and is re-finished by hand and machine using a multitude of different finishing techniques. All original angles and edges of polished surfaces are respected to ensure perfect sharp and flat edging.
Polishing and finishing are not the same. All watches have unique forms of finishing that have been performed using specialised machinery, equipment and skill. We are Australia’s foremost experts in Swiss watch refinishing and have intimate knowledge of restoring different watch brands. By using these methods, our watches will never be over-polished, resulting in a factory-perfect finish every time. This ensures watches will be as close to new as possible. All componenets are individually cleaned using a hi frequesncy ultrasonic cleaner. This removes any debris and restores shine and lustre.
The movement is completely dismantled and each component is ultrasonically cleaned in specifically formulated solutions. The movement is re-assembled using the most advanced lubricants and each functional component is carefully lubricated to minimise friction and prevent wear. This helps to ensure that our watches continue to perform accurately.
At this stage the movement is already assembled. The case components are then aligned, reassembled and re-fitted at which point the movement is installed into the watch.
The watch is rigorously tested to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications for water resistance. A compression and vacuum test are performed in dry conditions to ensure water-resistance.
A wet compression test is also conducted to check for any possible leaks in the case.
To ensure timekeeping precision, prior to assembly the watchmaker adjusts the balance wheel and electronically tests its timing accuracy. After assembly the timekeeping is tested one final time.
The cosmetic appearance of your watch is verified one last time against manufacturing specifications to ensure the highest degree of quality.
Rigorous tests are carried out at each stage of the servicing process. The watch undergoes one last check to guarantee proper function and power reserve, and to ensure all areas finished are of the highest possible standard.
All watches sold by the Watch Collector Company come with a full 1 year warranty from date of purchase. This covers mechanical accuracy and proper function of the watch including water-resistance where applicable.
